There I was in the bottom of a sewer, passed out.
As I came to my senses, I wondered, “am I ever going to walk again”… “how did I get here?” “What does this mean for me?”
The answer that I discovered as a result of this story, has the potential to assist you to achieve your goals… and if you haven’t already found what you LOVE doing and focus on that, in a way that may be beyond what you even thought possible.
I’ll explain that in just a minute… but before I do, let me tell you the story of how I became a hempster.
When I was 14 something traumatic happened that changed the course of the rest of my life.
Has something like that ever happened for you?
I deliberately ask “for you”, and not “to you”. Because when you shift your mindset from thinking things happen to you and instead think that they happen for you, you become an opportunist and no longer a victim. Just a little side note.

You see, I was a super active kid and loved playing many different sports. I was into soccer, football, surfing, hockey, motorcycle-riding, snowboarding, skateboarding, rollerblading and… well you get the point. I was a wild and crazy kid.
I was given the label (like many children) of an ADHD kid.
In case you don’t know that means which is unlikely, it means Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder – which meant I didn’t sit still, for more than about 3 seconds at a time.
I basically bounced off the walls from the moment I woke up until the moment my head hit my fluffy pillow at night. Do you know anyone like that?
And then the day came that changed my life forever… while out skateboarding, I had a fall that I didn’t get up from, like I usually did. I’m not sure if you’ve ever had a bad fall, but I was skating on a half-pipe and slipped off the coping on the top of the ramp and fell about 7 feet down – right onto my tailbone…ouch.
When I hit the ramp I squealed like a little pig, and moaned and groaned for about 10 minutes, as I rolled around rubbing my back. When I could collect myself enough, I called my dad to come pick me up, and take me home. I was done for the day…
After several weeks of recuperating, getting x-rays, going to physical therapy and chiropractor visits, I was finally well enough to get back out there, and keep being the wild and crazy kid I was – although with a slight handicap now and a bit more hesitancy to go as big as I used to…
And then it happened again…BAAM!!
One day I was out skating (again) – cause I pretty much did that 7 days a week – with my big brother this time, and being the rowdy teenagers that we were, we wanted to open up a heavy manhole lid to have easy access to the sewer, in case our boards went down the drain of the curb we were skating on.
Some curbs are really great for doing grinds and tricks on, but it sucks when you’re board goes down the drain… so we wanted to be prepared to grab them easily if that happened. That was our logic anyway. Easy access.
I probably should have just left it alone, but of course, I didn’t…
So I put my skinny little finger in the metal loop to pull up the manhole lid.
This one was rectangular, not round like many of them. You see, the round ones are made to not fall in, but the rectangular ones are different. If they shift ever so slightly they will fall right into the hole…So there I stood, that scrawny little skater boy over the manhole, and I pulled up with all my might… and the lid indeed shifted.
My finger was stuck in the metal loop and the lid sucked me into the hole as if being slurped into the sewer like a spaghetti noodle into the mouth of a monster.
I fell several feet down and smacked the cement floor head-first. I immediately passed out. That’s where we started this story if you didn’t notice. It’s truly a miracle that I’m alive – and I give thanks every day that I’m here… how grateful are you for the life you’ve been given. It’s moments like these that give us a huge opportunity to reflect on how fragile life can be.
What seemed like a few minutes later, but was actually about 10 seconds, I came to.
I looked up at my big brother peering sheepishly into the sewer down at me, as he asked with a sort of hesitant chuckle, “Are you okay?”
It’s truly amazing that I didn’t completely get paralyzed that day… as a matter of fact, I was able to slowly get up and walk back home, in an achy daze, with the help of my nervous big brother.
Now, at this point, you may be wondering, “How does this help me in any way, and what does this have to do with becoming a hempster”?
What the heck does this have to do with the project your working on, or the task or goal you’re wanting to achieve right now, as it relates to hemp?
I promise. I will get to that very soon.
You see, those two accidents quickly caught up with me. By the time I was 15 I began experiencing agonizing pain and although I kept pushing myself to skate, and play soccer and other sports, I often had to sit out or take breaks to let the pain reside before continuing – but I didn’t give up easily.
Have you ever really wanted to do something and you just felt stuck or handicapped in some way? It’s not a good feeling.
Basically, those two accidents set me up for years of pain and deep introspection.
During those painful days of my life, having to take several days at a time off from school, visiting doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists and the like… I didn’t realize it, but it was actually a gift and a blessing.
You see, because of the pain I went through, it pushed me to ask questions like “WHY AM I HERE, WHO AM I, and WHAT’S MY PURPOSE IN LIFE?”
And so at a very young age, I knew that life is short – it’s ephemeral.
We are only given a brief period of time to do something with this life.
And I deeply wanted to know what that was for me… I knew that I wanted to do something HUGE, but I just didn’t know what it was.
By the time I was 17, I had been shown a lot of different alternative healing modalities, as my amazing grandmother (Linda) influenced me in that way.
I got to learn and experience, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, herbal therapy, oxygen therapy, special ways of eating, energy medicine and much more!
I started playing music when I was 12 and for a while, I thought that was my purpose in life – to be a musician; to create peace on earth through music… but deep down I knew there was something different for me. I’m still a musician, it just wasn’t what I chose to be that one thing for me.
I had an aversion to making money – as I thought that it was “evil” and the source of corruption in the world… but my perspective on that changed after studying marketing, business, and sales in college, looking into the nature of consciousness and learning from masterful individuals that in fact, money is a tool and a catalyst for AMAZING things. Of course it can be used for horrible things, but money in and of itself is not bad.
I realized that if I am going to make a HUGE impact in the world, I have got to learn how to make money to fund whatever it is I’m here to do to serve others.
And then it hit me, if I want to make change in life, I have to make $CHANGE$ in life.
So I began shifting my attitude towards money and realized it was a vehicle for positive transformation in the world.
I looked around and the world wasn’t what I knew it could be. All of the destruction of our bodies and environment made me sad, and at times quite angry and frustrated. Seeing trees cut down, and the earth drilled for oil, among the other horrible practices and businesses, it just didn’t make sense to me.
However, I kept reminding myself that no matter what, I will do my absolute best to make the difference, and just maybe I would leave this world a better place than I found it. Can you relate to that?
I was also really into making things. I loved to paint, and I would make jewelry pieces with hemp twine…
I knew it wasn’t far off that I would be clear about my purpose, so I kept asking and searching.
Then one day it happened. I realized my purpose, why I’m here.
I was standing in the kitchen at my beautiful little grandmother’s house, and she said, “Tyler, look what I got from the health food store!”
She pulled out a black bag with a gold shiny label that read Hemp Protein Powder (with an an Egyptian looking bird on it) and said: “Do you want to try some of this?” So I put a scoop into some almond milk, blended it up, and drank it down. I was blown away.
Light bulbs, no fireworks, started going off in my head. “Not only can this plant clothe people, it can feed people too,” I thought. Prior to that moment I realized that you could make hemp clothing, and I knew of a few other uses, such as the twine I was using to make the jewelry.
But it was in that moment, that I saw hemp was almost a perfect food. The protein in hemp seeds is very digestible and hemp seeds alone provide protein, essential fats, minerals and quality fiber.
It was that moment that I realized I had found my purpose, to make a HUGE impact in the world before my time to depart comes…
I realized, cannabis hemp was my vehicle to create “peace on Earth”, and help to mend people and the planet in a tangible, real way. I knew that I was here to empower and educate the world about the phenomenal benefits & thousands of uses for hemp.
The fact that it could be used for food, clothing and could help to house millions of people around the world, without destroying our precious resources and planet was my ticket to a purposeful, fulfilling life.
I decided that my mission and vision in life was to align with others who had a project, or dream and vision for their life – and to inspire and educate them to utilize hemp to level-up the results they were looking for.
I realized, as you may have as well, that if people around the world continue using unsustainable, toxic resources that future generations may not have an Earth to experience the glory of life on.
And so when I was 20, I set out on a journey. I packed my bags and began meeting hemp entrepreneurs and companies around the world. I absorbed and learned everything I could about business, marketing, hemp, consciousness, communication, sustainability and the world.
After a year of traveling, when I got back home I reached out to local hemp companies and started helping them to fulfill the needs of their customers. I learned how to provide valuable hemp products to people and answer all their amazing questions about this plant, how it worked and what it could do.

As I was working for these awesome hemp companies I started my own company, where we offered hemp awareness parties, fashion shows, and educational events to raise awareness and teach people how to work with this amazing plant and all its products.
And in 2012, after having made the most amazing strategic alliances, (such as the Hempsters Crew) with hemp companies and hemp entrepreneurs around the world I started offering Raw Wholesale Hemp Materials through my company: Bulk Hemp Warehouse.
My dreams were coming true, of assisting PEOPLE LIKE YOU to complete their projects, and goals while honoring their values to respect our Earth and live in harmony with each other and nature.
So if you want to be a part of this amazing journey with us to HEMPOWER the planet, we are here to inspire YOU to use at least one thing in your daily life that is made from hemp, and help you understand the benefits of hemp, and that investing in hemp products is a direct way of preserving and honoring this planet for future generations… not to mention the superior nature and quality that hemp products provide.
Maybe you have a company yourself, and you want to integrate hemp foods or clothing, or maybe you’re a musician or artist and you want to use more products that are in alignment with your mission and values.
Whatever it is that you do, we are here to help make your visions, dreams and projects come to fruition with hemp.
